Cancellation Policy

The following cancellation policy applies to reservations made directly through the TICOASIS website unless otherwise specified.

Guests may cancel their reservation within 24 hours of the original booking confirmation and receive a full refund, provided that the reservation was made at least 72 hours before the scheduled check-in date.

The 24-hour grace period does not apply to reservations booked under the Costa Rican Resident Last-Minute Rate.

Reservations canceled more than 30 days before the scheduled check-in date will receive a full refund of all amounts paid.

Reservations canceled 15 to 30 days before the scheduled check-in date will receive a refund of 50% of the total reservation amount.

Reservations canceled 14 days or less before the scheduled check-in date are non-refundable.

TICOASIS is pleased to offer a special discounted rate for verified Costa Rican residents on eligible reservations booked 18 days or less before the scheduled arrival date, subject to availability.

Because this rate reflects a substantial last-minute discount:

• Reservations are final and non-refundable immediately upon confirmation.
• The 24-hour grace period does not apply.
• Reservations may not be canceled, modified, or rescheduled after confirmation.
• The reservation holder must successfully complete residency verification before booking and present matching government-issued identification upon check-in.
• If residency cannot be verified or matching identification is not presented at check-in, TICOASIS reserves the right to charge the difference between the discounted rate and the applicable standard rate or cancel the reservation.

Requests to change reservation dates or shorten a stay are subject to availability and approval by TICOASIS.

Approved reservation changes do not restart, extend, or otherwise alter the applicable cancellation period. A reservation may not be modified for the purpose of avoiding cancellation fees.

No refunds or credits will be issued for:

• No-shows
• Late arrivals
• Early departures
• Unused nights after check-in

Reservations made through Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, Expedia, or any other third-party booking platform are governed by the cancellation policy displayed on that platform at the time of booking. Those platform-specific policies supersede this cancellation policy for reservations made through those services.

Except where required by applicable law, TICOASIS is not responsible for travel interruptions or cancellations resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:

• Severe weather
• Tropical storms or hurricanes
• Natural disasters
• Airline delays or cancellations
• Road closures
• Government travel advisories or restrictions
• Illness or medical emergencies
• Labor strikes
• Utility outages
• Other unforeseen events affecting travel

Refunds will not be issued for these circumstances. Guests are strongly encouraged to purchase comprehensive travel insurance to protect their vacation investment.

Approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method. Depending on the payment provider and financial institution, processing times may vary.
